How is Concrete Coloured?

Integrally-coloured or colour-through concrete refers to the addition of pigments to the concrete or topping mix in order to colour the entire volume of concrete. Mineral oxide pigments are added at the batching stage in predetermined quantities and thoroughly dispersed through the concrete mix to ensure that all of the concrete is tinted to the specified colour. The concrete is delivered to site and then carefully placed and finished by experienced concrete placers in a similar manner to grey concrete.

Benefits of Decorative Concrete

The most obvious benefit of coloured concrete is that it is far more attractive than conventional grey concrete or bitumen and is compatible with all exposed & polished concrete products. Coloured concrete is a permanent colouring solution.

Coloured Concrete Sealer

The application of a Same Day Sealer on the day of the concrete pour enhances curing, minimizes efflorescence and provides protection against the subsequent ingress of dirt and grease. It also adds further intensity to the colour of the concrete. After several days a coat of a more durable sealer can be applied to protect concrete from subsequent staining.

Where to use Coloured Concrete

Coloured concrete is not just for driveways and pavements, coloured concrete can be used in most applications specifying high performance or structural requirements.
